Ghyll Scrambling is a great fun activity especially if there is a group of you.

It involves climbing up the water course of a mountain stream with various challenges thrown in along the way.

These may be climbing waterfalls with the aid of ropes or abseiling down waterfalls, pool jumping, traversing rocks, water slides, squeezes.... the list goes on.

This is definitely a very wet activity.

Below are a few Videos of the ghylls for you to see what they are like and which level would suit you best.

We are AALA licensed and therefore able to instruct groups of children and young people under 18 without their parents being present.

In the past we have catered for all kinds of groups; school groups, stag do's, hen do's, scout packs, 40th birthdays, summer camps, friends day out... The list go's on.

Course programme

Ghyll scrambling runs as a half or full day activity and can be teamed up with one of our other group activities.

There are several really great ghyll's to explore in the Lake District. As a half day ghyll scramble you can do Church beck in Coniston, stickle Ghyll or Dungeon ghyll in Langdale. Or near Keswick we would do Stoney croft ghyll.

A full day ghyll or gorge is the river Esk, in Eskdale. This is a much more challenging ghyll and takes a full day.

We'll meet you at the venue and get kitted up with wetsuits, harnesses and helmets before going into the ghyll.

We work with groups of up to 8 with 1 instructor so if there are more than 8 of you we work with two or more instructors. We will, however, be in the same ghyll, sometimes together and sometimes moving as two seperate groups. This gives you the best experience whilst being able to see all your friends.

Ghyll scrambling is a challenging activity and is great for building team spirit. Through out the course of the scramble, there are various different types of challenges tp suit all tastes.
