MLTE approved Summer Mountain Leader Training Course
We run the courses on behalf of Brathay exploration group.
Why do your ML Training with Climb365
We are right in amongst the mountains - little travel time to the set off
point!
Our staff are highly qualified (MIC or MIA & WML) and have many years experience of ML courses as well as working with groups of young people in the outdoors.
The course will cover the Training syllabus of the Mountain Walking Leader scheme, and is MLTE recognised and approved. We will use the mountains local to our base in Ambleside which includes the Central and Eastern Lake District fells, as well as our local forest, woodland and crag areas. There will be practical, discussion based or lecture sessions in the evenings with one night spent in tents on expedition.
The courses will start at 7.30pm on the first day and finish at tea time (around 4 pm) on the last day.
Specialist equipment will be provided. A provisional programme is included below.
For this course you must be registered with the MLTE (or MLTW or MLTS),
and fulfil the experience requirements of 20 quality mountain days.

Sunday 7.30pm Introductions and outline of the training course programme
Monday
Navigation practical & theory revision on the hills.
Local hills for group and individual practise.
7.30pm Introduction to mountain weather.
Tuesday Security on steep ground.
7.30pm. Mountain Safety and night navigation.
Wednesday Mountain Hazards - avoidance / remedial action.
Backpacking equipment and expedition planning.
7.30 expedition preparation.
Thursday Expedition party leadership
steep ground
navigation, day and night
camping skills
group emergency exercise
Friday Return after lunch. Clean kit. Review expedition.
Saturday Access and conservation event. River crossing.
Review course and look towards assessment.

The course will finish by 4pm on Saturday.
