2 Days Summer Navigation course.
Why should I do this course?
If you enjoy hill walking and went to be confident spending time off paths
and in poorer visibility then this is the course for you.
What does this course cover?
We believe that being able to interpret the contours and relate the map
to the ground is a key skill in navigation and spend some time on the first
day covering this. We also aim to cover: using a compass, measuring distance
using timing and pacing, improving map memory, navigation strategies like
aiming off, catching features, hand railing, attack points and good route
choice.
What do I need to have done before?
You should be fairly fit and happy to spend a day in the fells walking.
Some experience of reading maps while walking on path is helpful but not
essential.
What do I need to bring?
You will need a packed lunch, waterproofs, spare jumper, walking boots or
similar and rucksack.
Who else will be on the course?
The course will be run on a maximum 1 instructor to 4 client ratio.
