Our mountain navigation courses for the over-fifties take place in Cumbria, UK and last for two days.
These mountaineering courses are designed for anyone over fifty years old with a good level of fitness and a love of the outdoors.
We aim to teach you the fundamentals and finer points of navigation so that you feel confident to go out in any weather condition and navigate yourself safely home.
This is a great way to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District.
Over the course of the two days we expect to climb some of the classic mountain peaks like Scafell, the Langdale Pikes and Helvellyn whilst also visiting some less well trodden paths and peaks.

Course programme
One instructor takes no more than four clients throughout the course.
Over the two days of the course we cover as many as possible of the important skills used in navigation.
These include map reading, uses of a compass, map to ground interpretation and vice versa, contour interpretation, the use of timing and pacing to judge distance travelled, and skills needed in poor visibility.
We navigate mainly using the 1:25,000 scale maps, but there will also be opportunities to cover use of 1:50,000 maps.
Essential information
Climb 365 provides all the necessary safety equipment.
You need to bring suitable clothing including good walking boots.
You should also have with you a 30 litre rucksack for spare clothing, food and drink, a compass and both OS 1:50,000 Landranger and 1:25,000 Outdoor
Leisure maps for the chosen walking area.
You need not be super fit but you do need the endurance to walk over rough terrain whilst gaining and losing height.
