The guided winter scrambling course is a 2 day course designed for summer and winter walkers who would like to try something a little more challenging.
Winter scrambling is a great activity and can be combined with a days winter walking.
Winter scrambling involves using an axe and crampons to climb small rocky steps with the safety of a rope.
There are some beautiful scrambling routes in Scotland that take you to the top of a mountain peak and give a great sense of satisfaction.
No previous winter experience is needed however a good degree of hill fitness is essential to get the most out of the course.

Course programme

The night before: We'll meet up with all the other winter scrambling course participants and run through the kit that you have, issue hired kit and discuss what you need to carry for each day.
Winter scrambling day 1: Introduction to the use of crampons and ice axe followed by an introductory guided winter scramble.

Winter scrambling day 2: Advanced guided winter scrambling. Possibilities include E ridge of Beinn a Chaorainn, Fiacaill of coire an t sneachda, Curved ridge, Dorsal Arete.

Winter scrambling day 3: On the three day course we leave the last day very flexible to allow clients to make suggestions and chat through the level of the final day of scrambling.

The winter scrambling course is run on a maximum 1 instructor to 3 clients ratio.

Kit list:
Kit: Climb365 provides helmets, harnesses and ropes. We hire walking axes, climbing axes, boots and crampons. Please see dates and prices section.
